Although I'm not quite there yet I attended an evening with Dr. Gilson to learn about Menopause. (for more on Dr. Gilson see www.rmalab.com). I figure it's better to know something about menopause before hand rather then wait until it gets here.
Reportedly menopause hits around the age of 50 to 52 for the average female, however Dr. Gilson believes that we should intervene early on when our hormone levels are just starting to drop.
Interesting enough Dr. Gilson strongly believes that eating properly, spiritual practice, exercise and sleep can go along way in preventing difficulties for oneself during menopause.
A book that was strongly recommended for those not quite there yet is titled "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PREmenopause, Balance Your Hormones and Your Life from Thirty to Fifty."
by John R. Lee, M.D., Jesse Hanley M.D. and Virginia Hopkins

Dr. George Gillson and Tracy Marsden of Rocky Mountain Analytical have co-authored "You've Hit Menopause: Now What?" . This book is geared to help women and their health care providers sort through the jumble of information on hormone replacement therapy. If you are trying to sort through the hormone replacement therapy this book can help. The book is contains 3 simple concepts: Assessment of symptoms potentially related to hormone imbalance, Laboratory testing to confirm or rule out hormone imbalance, and Restoration of hormone balance with bioidentical hormones where indicated. Find out why the Premarin-Provera HRT combination failed us, and why bioidentical hormone replacement, may be a viable HRT alternative for you.
This book can be purchased through www.rmalab.com.
